Before you totally disregard this post in an “I’ll never go to an opera sort of way,” why not read on and give it a chance? Try something new – after all, that was one of your New Year’s Resolutions, right?
If you have never been to an opera, The Atlanta Opera’s “Aida” may just be the perfect one to initiate you into the artform! I mean, it’s a great story, it’s a true spectacle, and it’s in Italian! How much more “opera” can you get? (There are supertitles, by the way, so you don’t actually have to know Italian.)
It’s a classic “girl meets boy, girls falls in love with boy, boy falls in love with other girl, first girl wants to destroy them both” kind of story – Guiseppe Verdi’s “Aida” is perfect for opera veterans and newbies alike.
If you have never been to an opera, why not branch out and try it – you won’t be disappointed! (And if you are, at least you can say you tried something new!)
