A good bagel is one one of my favorite foods – and I define a good bagel as a “real” bagel, an authentic boiled bagel that is chewy on the outside and soft on the inside.
Brooklyn Bagel Bakery is my neighborhood bagel shop – it’s less than two miles from my house and easily accessible. I would drive further if their bagels weren’t good – but they’re great, so why would I?
My “usual” order (which the regular staff knows!) is a salt bagel with light plain cream cheese – I get it for breakfast or lunch, on a weekday when I bring my laptop in and work for awhile or on a weekend when the hubby and I stop in for brunch. (We often bring Charlie the Wonder Beagle and sit outside on the patio.) But I have also had, on occasion, bacon, egg, and cheddar cheese on an everything bagel or lox with cream cheese, capers, cucumber, tomato and red onion on an everything or salt bagel (that’s also the hubby’s favorite). I can honestly say, I’ve never been disappointed here.
The bagels at Brooklyn Bagel Bakery remind me of the bagels I’ve been eating since I was a kid on trips up to visit family in New Jersey and New York. And they’re better than most of the bagels I’ve tried at other Atlanta area bagel shops. Now, you may argue – you may have your favorite spot and I won’t try to argue with you – we all have our loyalties. But I definitely recommend you give Brooklyn Bagel Bakery a try!
