The 74th Annual Atlanta Dogwood Festival is this weekend – Friday through Sunday, April 16 – 18, 2010 – and is returning to Piedmont Park! During the severe drought Atlanta suffered over the past couple of years, the festival was moved to Lenox Square in Buckhead, but it was announced in October 2009 that the festival would be allowed to return to its home in Piedmont Park.
One of the first things I did when I moved to Atlanta was go to the Dogwood Festival – it was one of the first events that really made me appreciate my new city and new home! From the artists’ market to the delicious food from the vendors, the movie night to the dog agility demonstrations (my favorite!), the Atlanta Dogwood Festival has something for everyone. And it’s an amazing way to experience the park for the first time or revisit a favorite place. For a complete schedule of events, visit the Atlanta Dogwood Festival website.
My recommendation (or how I’ll be enjoying the Festival): a leisurely stroll through the artists’ market – perhaps picking up a piece of art or some unique jewelry from a local artist, then take in the dog agility and disc exhibition, and stay (or return) on Saturday evening at 9:00 PM for Movie on the Meadow – the 50th Anniversary Screening of Alfred Hitchcock’s PSYCHO. How will you enjoy the Dogwood Festival?
And don’t forget…the NEW Dogwood Festival Restaurant Week continues through Sunday, April 18, 2010 – be sure to visit some of the great participating restaurants for some delicious food and amazing deals!
