#73 – 3rd Annual BeltLine Bike Tour – Atlanta Bicycle Coalition – 1PM to 6PM, Saturday, April 25, 2010
The Atlanta Bicycle Coalition’s mission is to make bike riding in Atlanta safer and easier, in an effort to create a “healthier, more sustainable Atlanta and allow people to enjoy a higher quality of life while improving public health, cleaning the air, reducing congestion, and building community.”
The BeltLine Bike Tour is sponsored by the Atlanta Bicycle Coalition and is a fun way to not only bike around the city of Atlanta but also to get to know the BeltLine from a new vantage point. You have probably seen the BeltLine online (in drawings and on maps) or perhaps even taken one of the free BeltLine bus tours. Taking the tour by bicycle is just another way to experience first-hand the transformative effect the BeltLine will have on the BeltLine neighborhoods around it.
Want to join the ride? Gather at Grady High School – on 8th Street near Piedmont Park – at noon on Sunday, April 25, 2010. The ride starts at 1 PM. There are three route options – ranging from 3 to almost 30 miles – to accomodate all levels, so bring your family, your friends…and your bike! (Bicycle rentals are available; helmets are required.) Healthy snacks will be provided at the start, as well as water refills along the routes.
The cost is only $20 per adult (ABC members enjoy a 50% discount), and up to two children under 12 can ride for FREE with each paying adult, making it a great family outing! This is a fundraiser for the programs and activities of the Atlanta Bicycle Coalition, so your money is going toward a great local cause.
You can pre-register here (strongly suggested) or on-site at noon on Sunday, April 25.
[Direct from the ABC Webiste: Weather update: there is a 30% chance of thunderstorms in the Sunday forecast. If the chance is >50% as of Saturday afternoon we will postpone the ride to the following Sunday, May 2. Sorry for any inconvenience – we hope the rain date will work for you! If you are not able to participate on May 2, you are invited to participate in a future ABC ride or class compliments of ABC. We will send out a notice Saturday afternoon updating you by email and post the update on the website as well.]
