This could be a very “green” weekend for you, if you so desire! Many local Farmers Markets are opening this weekend, including the Sandy Springs Farmers Market which is celebrating its grand opening today – and this afternoon and evening, you can celebrate at the Decatur Green Fest.
Today – Saturday, May 1, 2010 – from 3:00 PM until 9:30 PM you can enjoy a “green tasting” of local organic food and produce (including local restaurants such as Five Seasons and Leon’s Full Service, among others); green vendors and organizations providing information, education and products; new organic beverages from Bionade; and the work or artists who work with green and recycled materials. There’s also live music, a KidZone activity area for children, and beer provided by Athens’ microbrewery Terrapin Beer. You can visit the Decatur Green Fest website for the entertainment schedule and a list of the green vendors in attendance.
Want to plan out your day? I’d hit a couple of Farmers Markets in the morning – get some great locally-grown produce and locally-made goods. Then head on down to Decatur for the Decatur Green Fest. And to make it even more green (and avoid the parking hassles that can arise with big events like this one), you can take Marta to the Decatur Station. Make it a “green” weekend!
