#95 – Arabian Adventure Weekend at the Fernbank Museum – Saturday and Sunday, May 15-16, 2010

I love Fernbank Musuem because it offers a wide variety of family-friendly exhibits, activities and special events, as well as the incredible variety of offerings at the IMAX theatre (I recently wrote about Fernbank’s Martinis and IMAX®, a fun and fabulous Friday night!). This weekend, you’re invited to Fernbank Museum’s Arabian Adventure Weekend to help celebrate the recent release of the IMAX® film Arabia. sitting-camel-Charles-Doughty-Madain-Saleh-scene-from-ARABIA-fernbank-museum-atlanta-ga

Arabia is a film that explores Arabian culture through the ages. Using that unique IMAX® technology, you can ride the dunes with a camel caravan, dive into the treasure-laden Red Sea, explore the ruins of a towering lost city, hurtle back into the Islamic golden age of invention, join three million Muslims on the Hajj pilgrimage, and get to know the young Arabians transforming tomorrow’s world. To complement the film, the Arabian Adventure Weekend activities include cultural displays, live traditional music and dance, fashion show, storytelling, and sampling Arabic coffee and treats; a full schedule of activities and events is posted on the Fernbank website. The activities take place on Saturday from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM and on Sunday from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM.

The best way to experience the Arabian Adventure Weekend is with a Value Pass admission, which admits visitors to the museum, the activities and one IMAX® screening (seating is limited for the IMAX® films, so advance reservations are a good idea to be sure you get to see the film). Value Pass tickets are $23 for adults , $21 for students/seniors, $19 for children 12 and younger, and $8 for Museum members; that’s a savings of around $5 per person! (Other ticket options are available, but Value Pass admission is required to enjoy the full experience of Fernbank’s Arabian Adventure Weekend.)
