#121 – Atlanta International Soccer Fest Tournament – Saturday, June 12, 2010 – Atlanta Silverbacks Park
For soccer fans around the world, World Cup fever is upon us. You can celebrate the beginning of the World Cup by attending a full day of family soccer fun – right here in Atlanta – at the Atlanta International Soccer Fest Tournament!
In an amazing, unprecedented show of “soccer solidarity” and friendly rivalry, many bi-national Chambers of Commerce, Consulates, the World Trade Center Atlanta, and community organizations have organized a day-long soccer family day at Atlanta Silverbacks Park. Organized by South African-American Chamber of Commerce and the German American Chamber of Commerce of the Southern US, the tournament will benefit SOS Children’s Villages, a charity that aids children and promotes children’s rights around the world and will specifically aid their current relief efforts in Haiti. The round robin adult (age 20 and up) soccer tournament will take place this Saturday, June 12, 2010 from 9:00 AM until 8:30 PM. For just a $5.00 donation per person (children under 12 are free), you can cheer on your favorite country and enjoy a family-friendly day.
Twenty teams will be competing throughout the day. Countries participating are: Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Ecuador, France, Ethiopia, (Country of) Georgia, Germany, Kenya, Israel, Mexico, Netherlands, Nigeria, Switzerland, South Africa, and the U.S. There are two specialty teams represented by SOS Children’s Villages and CBS Radio’s DaveFM, V103 and WAOK. Come support your favorite country as they battle it out on the pitch!
At 2:30 p.m. the tournament will take a break to view the U.S.A vs. England game of the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™ on large-screen TVs. Food and beverages will be available for purchase from Atlanta Silverbacks Park.
