#123 – Summer Stroll on the Midtown Mile – Food, Fun and Music All Afternoon – Sunday, June 13, 2010
Summer in Atlanta is hot – and I’m not just talking about the weather. And since we Southerners often seem eager to brave the heat and humidity in favor of a good time, here’s a fun, family-friendly event for you!
Today – Sunday, June 13, 2010 – from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM, why don’t you take a Stroll on the Midtown Mile? Taking place in Midtown, on Peachtree Street between North Avenue and the High Museum, it’s a full afternoon of outdoor excitement and fun activities. This casual community event is designed to bring you to Midtown – to show you more of Midtown and promote the Mile’s many businesses and vanues. Haven’t been to Midtown lately or want to check out more of what Midtown has to offer, this is the place for you today!
Here’s a sample of what you can expect to enjoy: for the kids, there’s a Bounce House at Colony Square, Story Time at the Margaret Mitchell House, “Puppet Factory” with the Center for Puppetry Arts, wandering magicians, face painting and more; a community mural project at the Woodruff Arts Center; live music at 15th Street Plaza, as well as a Atlanta-based country-rock band Stovall performing at North Avenue Presbyterian Church from 1:00 to 4:00 PM; and a cooking demonstration by Chef Hugh Acheson at 999 Plaza. Additionally, there will be sidewalk sales, condominium open houses, food and wine tastings (we have not confirmed that there will not be a cost associated with tastings), giveaways, drawings and scavenger hunts! For more details and even more offerings, the event’s Facebook page is the place to go!
So take advantage of a sunny, Atlanta day (the weather forecast is looking good – hey only a 30% chance of rain!) and get outside on the Midtown Mile today!
