I have been (almost literally) drooling over West Egg Cafe‘s menu ever since I first read through it online, about two months ago. Why I didn’t go before yesterday, I can’t really say, but I finally made it there for lunch…I mean, breakfast…I mean, lunch.
I am a huge fan of breakfast food, so knowing that West Egg Cafe serves breakfast all day makes me a very happy girl. The plate I’ve been thinking about since first perusing the menu on their website is the Black Bean Cakes and Eggs (pictured), which I enjoyed with over medium eggs, chipotle salsa, sour cream on spicy black bean cakes, and roasted garlic grits. Of course, there were so many other great choices on the menu. My lunch friends both had the Pimiento Cheese and Bacon Omelette (which would have been my second choice – also pictured), and if my hubby had been there, I think he would’ve ordered a perennial favorite of his, Buttermilk Pancakes with chocolate chips!
After such a delicious breakfast (I mean, lunch), I can see why West Egg Cafe has been awarded Best Breakfast in Atlanta by Creative Loafing two years in a row (2008 and 2009) AND one of the Best Breakfasts in Georgia (2009) by Southern Living magazine. Many times when I visit a new restaurant, I am eager to go back because the dish I had was so good that I want to try it again. That is definitely the case (I am finishing my leftover Black Beans Cakes and Eggs as I write this) – I think I’ll be craving those Black Beans Cakes and Eggs quite often in the next few weeks! But there are also so many other things I want to try – and to be honest, I didn’t even have a chance to ponder the lunch menu (and honestly, with those Black Beans Cakes on the menu, I may never take a glance at the lunch menu!). So I’ll be going back (soon!) and I highly recommend you check it out, too!
