Tonight, Friday and Saturday nights, Broadway veteran and cabaret artist Robert Ray and friends bring you “I Hear America Singing” – popular American music from the last 100 years, by composers like Harold Arlen, Irving Berlin, and Johnny Mercer. Relive the memories of your life with Blue Skies, Always, What’ll I Do, Blues in the Night, Heatwave, Steppin’ Out, Old Black Magic, Come Rain or Shine, Stormy Weather, PS I Love You, Accentuate the Positive and many more in this  fast-paced, dramatically-costumed musical revue. The show concludes with a 20 minute patriotic salute. July 1 & 2, 8 PM. July 3, 7 PM. Tickets are $20 or $12 for children under 12.

On Saturday, July 3, 2010, the City of Marietta celebrates Independence Day. The Strand offers a Bird’s Eye Parade View & Continental Breakfast. From 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, you can enjoy a “view above the rest” from The Strand’s roof top terrace and continental breakfast and a cash bar, including juice, coffee, Bloody Marys, Mimosas, Screwdrivers, and morning beverages. Only 100 tickets are available for this VIP parade viewing – and they’re going quickly! The doors open at 9:00 AM, and   The City of Marietta’s Freedom Parade will begin at 10 AM at Roswell Street Baptist Church and head towards the Square from Roswell Road, turning onto Cherokee Street next to The Strand. Tickets are only $15. earl-smith-strand-theatre-fireworks-117-north-park-square-marietta-ga-justin-hadley

Again only 100 VIP tickets will be available! VIPs will enjoy a BBQ dinner by Dave Poe’s BBQ from 5:30 to 6:30 with two alcoholic beverages included, Robert Ray’s “I Hear America Singing” live stage show, and a “front row” view of the city’s dazzling fireworks show from the top level Cobb Terrace, The Strand’s popular rooftop terrace, voted the “Best Place to See & Be Seen” by Cobb Life Magazine. Tables of eight are $640 or $80 for individual tickets. VIP tickets are only available by walk-up or by phone at 770-293-0080.

Tickets are available online at www.EarlSmithStrand.org or 770-293-0080 Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 12 PM and 1 PM to 4 PM or two hours before the event/show. (NOTE: the VIP Red, Wine & Brew tickets are only available in person or over the phone – not online.) Both the Bird’s Eye Parade View & Continental Breakfast and Red Wine & Brew were sell-outs last year, so if you plan to attend, The Strand recommends you reserve your tickets early!

Have a safe and happy Independence Day weekend!
