The location of the 1996 Olympics beach volleyball games (the championship complex is still there and visible from The Beach area), The Beach at International Park is now a county-owned water park that is clean, staffed with lifeguards and family-friendly. The park offers a spring-fed, six-acre swimming lake with an adventure kiddie pool, 2 water slides, sandy beach, water trampoline, arcade, putt putt and sun deck. Beach volleyball enthusiasts can enjoy play where the 1996 Olympic athletes competed for the gold.
Open from Memorial Day through Labor Day, the surrounding park also includes a 17-court tennis center with pro-shop, an outdoor playground, fishing lakes, walking, fitness and bike trails, and family or group picnic areas. The park offers year-round events for all ages in the family.
The Beach is also wallet-friendly – $11.00 for adults, $9.00 for children 12 and under and seniors, and FREE for children 2 and under (water diapers required), it costs substantially less than other local water parks, but located the same distance from Atlanta! If your summer travel plans have been disrupted due to the disaster in the Gulf or if travel simply wasn’t in your budget this year, The Beach at Clayton County International Park may be just the answer for fun in the sun for the whole family!
And if you’re still on the lookout for something to do with family and friends for July 4th, The Beach is offering an Independence Day Holiday Event and Fireworks.
