Looking for something new and different to do for a girls’ night out, a unique date idea, a fun Mother-Daughter day or for a birthday party or other celebration? How about a fun night full of laughter and artistic expression, where you can B.Y.O.B. and your own snacks and learn to create a fun painting? Sips n Strokes in Dunwoody (they also have an East Cobb location and are coming soon to Buckhead!) is just the place.
Here’s how it works: you visit the Sips n Strokes website and click on Calendar, where you can see the entire month’s projects. Pick a painting that you want to paint and sign up for that class. Most classes are in the evening, though there are afternoon classes on some Saturdays and Sundays. (You will have to secure your reservation with a credit card.) There is a different painting every session, so there are tons to choose from. The friendly, talented instructors will walk you through the painting step by step – they provide everything you need: canvas, brushes, paint, instruction and aprons. You bring the rest – your friends, a bottle of wine or your favorite beverage, snacks, whatever! It’s only $25 for a fun-filled night!
I went with a couple of friends last week and we definitely had a blast. And while none of us are artists (certainly, I am not!), I don’t think we did too badly. The sample painting (a.k.a., the professional version) is above right. We figured it would be easy enough to paint something called “Three Daisies.” Our finished versions are below – don’t judge, it was our first time! There are so many great choices, there is sure to be something for everyone – every taste, every style, every artist!
Doors open 45 minutes before the class, to give you time to check in, get your seat and your supplies, have a glass of wine and some snacks and enjoy your friends’ company. Then the class starts and it’s down to (somewhat serious – or, in our case, hilarious) business.
I think the concept is brilliant – it’s a great idea for birthdays, bridal showers, bachelorette parties, date night, or just a fun night out with friends! They even had kids’ classes and kids’ summer camp!
