#170 – Celebrate One of Summertime’s Favorites with Tomatofeast! at La Tavola – July 28 through August 7, 2010!
One of my favorite things about summer is tomatoes – lots and lots of fresh, juicy tomatoes! From the regular old perfectly red round varieties to the smallest grape and cherry to the weird and wild heirlooms. How lucky we are that La Tavola celebrates tomatoes every year with Tomatofeast!
This year the two-week festival celebrating all things tomato starts today July 28 and runs through August 7, 2010, and offers up mouthwatering tomato-centric dishes that will make you want to pick up the phone and make a reservation right now!
This year, the eighth annual Tomatofeast! features a three-course prix fixe menu for $30 or you can order from the menu a la carte. There are appetizer/salads, entrées, and even a tomato dessert. I’m already planning my menu,even though my reservation is not until next week: octopus salad with heirloom cherry tomatoes, colatura oil, pickled red onion, arugula, and tomato vinaigrette; Fusilli Puttanesca spicy heirloom tomato sauce, with gaeta olives, capers, anchovies, and basil; and of course, dessert: candied almond and tomato semi-freddo with almond brittle.
