#201 – Inaugural Morningside Block Party This Saturday, August 28, 2010 – Get Your Tickets Now and Get In On the Fun!
One of the best parts of summer is the parties. The carefree feeling of getting outside, enjoying the sun-filled day with lots of delicious food, refreshing drinks and great company. Summer may be almost over, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have one last hurrah! In fact, there’s so much going on this weekend, you’re going to have a hard time deciding what to do!
The Inaugural Morningside Block Party is this Saturday, August 28, 2010, and it’s the perfect way for you to celebrate your carefree summertime one last time. Hosted by D.B.A. Barbecue and The Original El Taco, the party starts at 12:30 PM and goes until 10:00 PM. Plan to go early and stay all day to enjoy a fantastic line-up of live music, and delicious eats from D.B.A. Barbecue, The Original El Taco, and Mali Thai. Three of my favorite restaurants, teaming up to throw one shindig. Finally! I’ll be in their parking lot without having to make the decision of “where to eat?” – I’ll get to have all three at one party!
Live music plays all day long, featuring:
- 1:00 – 2:30 PM – Mudcat
- 2:45 – 4:15 PM – East Ponce Soul Faction
- 4:30 – 6:30 PM – The Hollidays
- 6:45 – 9:00 PM – The Oliver Wood & Joe McGuinness Band
Tickets are an unbelievably low $5.00 in advance to enter ($10 at the door, and children under 14 are free), and food and drink will be sold all day long. There’s even a children’s activity area open from 1:00 to 6:00 PM, with plenty to keep the kids busy! (Sorry, no pets allowed at this event.) My favorite tacos in town – the pork carnitas tacos from The Original El Taco – are sure to be on the menu, and if they’re not, you can get them from El Taco, which opens at 5:00 PM. All three participating host restaurants will be open normal hours during the party, so if you want to get out of the heat to enjoy a bite to eat, you can do that, too!
Parking is available on all adjacent surface streets, as well as the parking lot directly across the street from San Francisco Roasting Co. and at Grace Lutheran Church across the street. (Be prepared to walk from your car if you get there late – note to self: arrive early!) And hey, if the local forecast has you down lately, buck up! This event is taking place rain or shine!
