#206 – 8th Annual Summer Shade Festival and Corks & Forks Continues Today – Historic Grant Park – Sunday, August 29, 2010
Today – Sunday, August 29, 2010 – the 8th Annual Grant Park Summer Shade Festival continues in Historic Grant Park. Atlanta’s summer festivals are part of what makes our city great, and this is one that you won’t want to miss! Come out to celebrate the 10th birthday of the Grant Park Conservancy and enjoy one of the most beautiful spots in the city!
There is plenty to do at the Summer Shade Festival – a juried Artists’ Market, featuring over 150 artists, a variety of food from 20+ local vendors, live performance stages with music and entertainment starting at 11:00 AM on three different stages – the Festival Stage, the Stage in the Shade, and the Historic Bandstand Stage – and a children’s fun center providing plenty to keep the little ones entertained.
In addition, there is Corks & Forks — A Fine Food & Wine Event, taking place from 1:00 until 5:00 PM, featuring top chefs/restaurants and some of the best wines and ales on the market. Tickets for Corks & Forks are available online and are $35.00 in advance (online; if still available at the gate, tickets are $45.00). Your ticket entitles you to one taste at each chef/restaurant’s booth, and for those who are 21+, wine and beer sampling. You can also find a list of today’s chefs on the Corks & Forks website.
The festival is produced to benefit the Grant Park Conservancy and its work to restore, renovate, preserve and maintain Atlanta’s oldest public park – if you’ve never visited, what better time than during the Summer Shade Festival? (Please note: Please leave your pets at home, due to the City ordinance adopted in 2003 prohibiting pets in outdoor Festival areas where attendance is expected to be greater than 10,000 people.)
