When you are looking for a great restaurant in the Perimeter Mall area, you may not automatically think of Savu, in fact you may not even know it’s there. Located in the W Atlanta Perimeter Hotel, Savu is a contemporary American casual dining restaurant occupying a light airy, airy space in the W’s lobby area. And the best part is, Savu is not just for hotel guests!

I was excited to try Savu for my birthday lunch last week with my friend, Katie. The menu is not online, so I didn’t know what to expect, other than what Katie had told me, since she’d been before and loved it. I was really looking forward to a special lunch, and I was not disappointed!

We started with a heavenly, fresh heirloom tomato salad, topped with crème fraiche and a balsalmic reduction (pictured – above). Since we’re nearing the end of tomato season, I’ve been gobbling up heirloom tomato salads wherever and whenever I can find them! For our entrées, Katie had the halibut tacos, served on corn tortillas with more lovely tomatoes and some creamy Mexican cheese (pictured, right), and I chose from the slider menu. Savu offers five different sliders – you choose three for just $16. I had the chicken teriyaki with pineapple, pulled barbecue pork with a peach chutney, Thai turkey burger with Sriracha (pictured – below; they also offer a lamb slider and a fried green tomato/vegetarian slider). It was definitely difficult to pick just three – all five sounded amazing! My favorite, hands down, however, was the pulled pork barbecue slider with the peach chutney – it’s a must try!

And of course, because it was my birthday (and also because, well, why not?) we had to indulge and try a dessert. The peach-blackberry-almond tart (pictured, bottom) was calling our names – it tasted as good as it looks! It was a lunch and a dessert worthy of a birthday – or any day, really!

Savu offers a selection of salads and lighter dishes, as well as heartier choices, providing options for everyone in your party. The menu does not resemble the average, one-note hotel restaurant menu – you feel more like you are in a posh, casual café than in a hotel lobby!

Savu’s hours are 6:30 AM until 2:00 PM and 5:30 PM until 10:00 PM, seven days a week, making it a great choice for a workday lunch or a break from shopping at Perimeter, for happy hour and a quick bite, or for a nice romantic dinner or girls’ night.
