#223 – 4th Annual Atlanta Arts Festival This Weekend – Saturday & Sunday, September 18-19, 2010 – in Beautiful Piedmont Park!
In it’s fourth year, the Atlanta Arts Festival is a great FREE, family-friendly festival at Piedmont Park and always proves to be a ton of fun! The Atlanta Arts Festival is a juried Festival that brings in 200 artists from across the nation for their famed Artist Market, who are also competing. This year in particular, the Festival is working to create a unique sensory experience for patrons with artist demonstrations, a new stage presented by the Woodruff Arts Center (presenting teasers for current and upcoming productions), an acoustic stage, green Creation Station (for budding artists), and hands-on activities to allow participants to actually create their own art, which is a new feature this year. Classes and hands-on activities this year include painting classes conducted by Sips N Strokes ($25 per class – consult schedule on-site) and RE-Art, which is FREE and allows attendees to use repurposed materials to create art.
The entertainment line-up will keep you entertained all weekend long, featuring performers from varied genres, including the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, Wade in the Rhythm (a four-piece band rooted in reggae sound), the Alliance Theatre, and a few special appearances by the cast of Pageant: The Musical. And of course, what festival in Atlanta would be complete without an amazing line-up of food vendors?
The festival hours are Saturday, September 18 from 10:00 AM until 7:00 PM, and Sunday, September 19 from 10:00 AM until 6:00 PM. (Don’t forget, pets are not allowed in the park during large events, so please leave your furry friends at home!)
