midtown-festival-of-the-arts-september-2010-atlanta-gaMidtown has been buzzing for months about the inaugural year of the Midtown Festival of the Arts – and for good reason! This event is sure to become one of the hottest annual festivals to attend – and you can tell all your friends you were there for the very first one! Just checking out the website for the Midtown Festival of the Arts has me excited – it’s bold and bright, a splash of color across your screen. And you can just feel that that’s how you’ll feel when you’re actually there – it’s sure to be a splash of excitement across your weekend!

It kicks off with an opening party and auction tonight – Friday, September 24 at 7:00 PM – at the Loew’s Hotel at 11th and Peachtree. But don’t stay out partying too long, because you’ll want to be bright and chipper for the Midtown Mile Road Race on Saturday morning – registration begins at 7:45 AM and the race starts at 9:00 AM. From there, the festival is off and running with exhibits, demos, activities, and entertainment all throughout Saturday and Sunday. There is an Artist Market, Chef Demos, a Kids’ Zone, stages featuring Performing Arts, Choral Arts and an Acoustic Cafe, as well as a Movie Night on Saturday night at 8:00 PM, featuring a screening of Atlanta’s own Driving Miss Daisy.

Also scheduled is a tantalizing segment each day called “Plates on Peachtree”, sponsored by Fifth Group Restaurants (think: South City Kitchen, South City Kitchen Vinings, The Original El Taco, Ecco, La Tavola, and BOLD America Catering). From 12:00 noon until 5:00 PM on Saturday, September 24 and from 12:00 noon until 4:00 PM on Sunday, September 25 in the Culinary Pavilion – located at the corner of Peachtree and 7th Streets) you can enjoy a complimentary cocktail and sample tastes from fifteen of Atlanta’s best culinary destinations. This is a ticketed event – tickets are $30.00 in advance and $40.00 at the door.

365Atlanta.com is giving you a chance to WIN a pair of tickets to Plates on Peachtree – for either the Saturday or Sunday event! There are two ways to enter for up to two chances to win!
