#234 – Shula’s 347 Grill in Buckhead – Experience “The Shula Cut” Steak at Buckhead’s “Newest Sophisticated Sports Bar & Patio”!
I recently had the pleasure of celebrating my birthday at the new Shula’s 347 Grill in Buckhead. (Full disclosure: Shula’s 347 Grill graciously hosted us for dinner and our bill was comped by the house.) Named after Coach Don Shula’s unmatched 347 NFL career victories, features a light-filled bar with floor to ceiling windows, a main dining area, private dining rooms, and a fabulous outdoor patio area.
Dark hardwoods and pigskin-covered walls make up the décor, and photographs showcasing local sports stars and national legends as well as popular Atlanta landmarks are featured throughout the restaurant. The feeling is a high-end sports bar meets steak house. A more casual atmosphere than the legendary Shula’s Steak Houses, Shula’s 347 Grill serves up a great bar menu and was a fun, fantastic place to celebrate my birthday!
We were seated in Dave Shula’s (Coach Don’s son) own personal booth – quite a VIP feeling – which overlooks the entire restaurant, but still feels private and exclusive. The menu is a mix of casual fare and steakhouse favorites. We started the meal with an order of the Crispy Ravioli (pictured, above), which is served with a marinara and is a great starter. It was the perfect size to share and whet your appetite before the meal, without filling you up. I had the Seared Ahi Tuna (pictured), served over Asian slaw with pickled ginger and wasabi cream. The wasabi cream had just enough kick to it to satisfy without being overbearing and the slaw was crisp and fresh (not wilted and soggy, as can often be the case with slaw). My husband was quite excited about the steak – ready to order his 14-ounce New York Strip (pictured, below) before he even glanced at the menu. Shula’s exclusively serves Premium Black Angus Beef®, used to create their famous SHULA CUT® steaks, and he was suitably impressed with his steak (he can be a tough one to please where steak is concerned!).
Dessert was delectable, too. Though there were three or four items I could have devoured (despite being full from the meal), we chose the flourless chocolate cake. It was moist and oh-so-chocolatey, served with a warm chocolate sauce and fresh strawberries. The perfect ending to a special meal!
Shula’s 347 Grill is open seven days a week for lunch and dinner – reservations are accepted by calling 404-848-7345. Don’t let the location fool you – this is a restaurant to be enjoyed just as much by locals as by travelers and hotel guests. If you’ve passed it up thinking it’s just another hotel restaurant, you’re very much mistaken!
With the friendly service, fun bar atmosphere, live music and events, and great variety on the menu, it’s clear why their tagline is: “Buckhead’s newest sophisticated sports bar and patio.”
