#239 – Hotoberfest is Today! A Celebration of Beer, Music and Our Lovely Earth – Saturday, October 2, 2010
Who doesn’t want to go to a festival that is described as: “the combination of Hotlanta’s sexy attitude and Oktoberfest’s tradition of fun”? If this sounds appealing to you, then you need to be at Hotoberfest today.
Hotoberfest is a family-friendly festival, from 1:00 PM until 8:00 PM today – Saturday, October 2, 2010 – in Glenwood Park. With plenty of activities and entertainment, there’s sure to be something for all! From an artist market to free temporary tattoos, a make-a-puppet workshop with the Center for Puppetry Arts to beer bottle bowling, a petting zoo to recycled sack races – it’s a fun-filled festival fitting for fall!
Its purpose is threefold: the celebrate craft beers, live music and the preservation of the Earth. Sound a bit broad? Well, it is. But think of all the people Hotoberfest attracts who have an interest in one or more of those things! Ingenius marketing, if you ask me!
The ways you can enjoy the beer are also threefold (quite fitting, if you ask me). You can purchase individual beers in the free festival area – simple. Or if you’re more of a beer-lover, and want a better beer experience, you can purchase beer-drinking tickets – Beer Garten General Admission is $30 in advance/$40 at the gate and includes admission from 2:00 to 6:00 PM; VIP Beer Garten Admission is $40 in advance/$50 at the gate and includes admission an hour earlier, at 1:00 PM, and a number of VIP extras (visit the Hotoberfest site and click on tickets for details). Please note: advance online ticket sales end at 9:00 AM today, Saturday, October 2 – click here to purchase tickets online. If it’s after 9:00 AM, never fear: you can purchase tickets at the gate!
The festival is FREE, other than the ticketed beer areas. “The most fun you can have with a glass in your hand, legally.”
