Spend this gorgeous fall day at Historic Oakland Cemetery to celebrate the 31st Annual Sunday in the Park.
Sunday in the Park is a Victorian street festival and is a signature event for Oakland Cemetery. It’s a family-friendly festival with a full day of entertainment, food and fun. There will be food from local restaurants, such as Six Feet Under, The Varsity, Doc Chey’s, Tin Lizzy’s, and more. There will be a Victorian costume contest, which is always just as fun for onlookers as it is for participants. Carriage tours and free walking tours allow guests to get a closer look at the beautiful grounds. Dig down deep with a cemetery scavenger hunt and enjoy live music and dancing. The children’s area will feature art and crafts, old-fashioned games and the Zoo Atlanta ZooMobile. There’s also the traditional Oakland Teddy Bear Tea for kids of all ages. There will also be storytelling and an appearance by The Bubbleman. And of course, no Atlanta festival would be complete without an artists’ market, chock full of artists from near and far.
Sunday in the Park is today – Sunday, October 3, 2010 – from 12:00 noon until 6:00 PM. Admission is $5.00 suggested donation and FREE for children 3 and under – all proceeds from admission benefit the Historic Oakland Foundation. Parking is FREE in the parking lots adjacent to the cemetery outside the gates and in other designated lots. There are also pedestrian gates, which will be open for those who are coming on foot.
