Yesterday, I had my first taste of the Bocado burger (pictured). All I can say is…<swoon>. bocado-887-howell-mill-road-atlanta-ga-burger-stack

With all the hype surrounding burgers and burger joints, bloggers, foodies and critics rushing to declare the “Best Burger”, and even the Battle of the Burgers, which took place in Virginia Highland last Saturday, burgers are big business. I’ve heard a lot about Bocado’s Burger Stack, so simple, with American cheese and house-made pickles. It consists two patties, made from ground chuck, brisket and short ribs, so they’re juicy and tender and flavorful, and served on a lightly toasted Holeman & Finch bun. It’s a darn good burger, folks. Nothing too fancy, just a quality, delicious burger.

Another menu item that tempted me – and I indulged in – are the Deviled Eggs (I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, I love a good deviled egg and I’m so glad they’re back “in vogue” – and so thankful that my friend and lunch date, Michael, is a fan, as well, and placed the order before I even say down!). Also calling my name – but I just didn’t have room for – were the Blackened Tuna B.L.T. with applewood smoked bacon, arugula, avocado, chipotle mayo; the Roasted Poblano and Pimiento Cheese sandwich with bacon, fried green tomato, and spicy sauce; and the Portabello Panini with red peppers, georgia goat cheese, arugula, fennel, and almond romesco. All good reasons to go back! I even had to email the menu to my dad because I knew how excited he’d be about the Fried Bologna sandwich with dijonaise, fontina, and arugula, and the Chicken Liver Crostini (I’ve recently discovered my love for a good chicken liver pate, incredibly enough – my dad is so proud!)

Here’s some more deliciously tempting news: It’s Bocado’s one-year anniversary today – Wednesday, October 6, 2010 – and we’re all invited to celebrate with them! Bocado will be serving up complimentary appetites and small plates, with a cash bar, from 5:30 PM until 8:00 PM.

Located on Midtown’s Westside (nicknamed “Westside-Bestside” by my foodie friends, for its now-abundant good eats), Bocado is open for lunch Monday through Friday, from 11:00 AM until 2:30 PM, and for dinner Monday through Saturday, beginning at 5:00 PM. The spacious and open loft-style interior and comfortable patio make it a warm and welcoming space that make you want to come back again and again. So I think I will…soon.
