#247 – Ecco’s “Sirens of the Sea” Celebrates Mediterranean Coastal Cuisine – Now Through Saturday, October 16, 2010
Having moved from the west coast of Florida to Atlanta eleven years ago, one of the things I have missed most is access to fresh, well-prepared seafood. While it is becoming more widely available in the Atlanta area, it’s still nothing like living on the Florida coast, so when restaurants make an extra effort to celebrate the bounty of the sea – creating special menus around seafood – I get very excited!
If you have similar cravings and a deep love for all things oceanic, then you will not want to miss “Sirens of the Sea” at Ecco – now through Saturday, October 16, 2010. The limited-time-only, à la carte menu, created by Chef Micah Willix, features delectable seafood dishes, meant to taste and share. While the menu is subject to change daily, based on availability, a few of the dishes that jump out at me are raw coldwater oyster with aquavit, cucumber and paddlefish caviar; smoked arctic char with crowder peas, cream and housemade bacon; wood-roasted sardines with green onion and corona beans; and brandade—salt cod and olive oil. My mouth is watering already!
The prices on the “Sirens of the Sea” menu range from $3.00 to $30.00 – you can easily share a number of small plates in order to sample a variety of dishes. For me, it’s the perfect night out with the hubby…and might even warrant a second visit with some girlfriends for a girls’ night out!
Ecco’s bar and patio open at 4:00 PM daily and dinner is served Sunday through Thursday from 5:30 PM until 10:00 PM, and Friday and Saturday from 5:30 PM until 11:00 PM. Reservations are recommended.
