#300 -Spend the Holidays with the Sanders Family – “Sanders Family Christmas” Now Open at Theatre in the Square – Through January 2, 2011
The Sanders Family is back for their 12th season as the holiday favorite at Marietta’s Theatre in the Square and are here to play until January 2, 2011.
Sanders Family Christmas has become a holiday tradition for many – season subscribers at Theatre in the Square and those who love the show. Featuring a cast of faces familiar in the Atlanta theatre scene – Jennifer Akin, Scott E. DePoy, Laura Floyd, Karen Howell, Alan Kilpatrick, JP Peterson, and Jeremy Wood – and directed by Karen Howell and Alan Kilpatrick, it’s s show sure to tickle your funny bone and warm your heart. This is one of my favorite shows of the season – if you’ve never seen it, you should definitely make room for it in your busy holiday schedule!
The Sanders Family welcomes you back to Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church: it’s Christmas Eve, 1941, and Reverend Oglethorpe has gathered the congregation – you included – to celebrate the holiday spirit before the boys, including one of the Sanders’ own, are shipped off to World War II. With Christmas carols, vintage hymns, bluegrass tunes, and hilarious stories and hijinks, you won’t want the evening to come to an end!
There’s no show on Thanksgiving Day or Christmas Day, but there are plenty of opportunities for you to experience Christmas, Sanders-style. Shows are Tuesday through Saturday at 8:00 PM, with matinées on Wednesday and Sunday at 2:30 PM (for showtimes around Christmas and New Year’s, please consult the website – click here). I definitely recommend getting your tickets well in advance – shows sell out every year, especially matinées! Tickets range from $25.00 – $35.00 (there are group discounts – call the Box Office at 770-422-8369 for more info). Click here to purchase tickets online.
