Atlanta-Ballet-Nutcracker-matrushka-Photo-by-c-McCullers-december-2010This holiday season marks the 51st production of the Atlanta Ballet’s “The Nutcracker,” first brought to Atlanta by the Ballet in 1959. The glitz and glamour of The Fabulous Fox Theatre serve as the perfect backdrop for this holiday spectacular that is a long-standing holiday tradition for families all around the Metro Atlanta area. The first time I saw “The Nutcracker” was as a young girl in Florida, but every time I see, I feel transported.

Where else can a young child’s fantasies turn into an enchanted, sugar-trimmed winter wonderland reality beneath a gorgeous 38-feet tall Christmas tree. Adding to the beauty of the production is the Atlanta Ballet Orchestra, which will play for all performances – there’s nothing like a live orchestra!
