The Virginia-Highland neighborhood is known for its beautiful bungalows, fantastic shopping dining, and walkability. A true “neighborhood” in every sense of the word, it’s one of the neighborhoods that even out-of-towners have heard of and want to visit – as evidenced by its most recent fans, Jennifer Aniston and Paul Rudd, who have been spotted hanging out in Va-Hi restaurants and bars while in town filming a new movie.
This weekend – December 11 and 12, 2010 – is the annual “Homes for the Holidays” Virginia-Highland Tour of Homes. Featuring six gorgeous homes and one neighborhood church, the Homes for the Holidays home tour is walkable (like the neighborhood) and features some of the best that Va-Hi has to offer.
If you’re worried that touring these gorgeous homes will make you work up too much of an appetite, never fear! Local Virginia-Highland eateries are sponsoring the home tour and providing tasty samples of their wares in the tour homes. Enjoy tastes from Atkins Park, D.B.A. Barbecue, Goin’ Coastal, The Original El Taco, La Tavola, Metrofresh, Murphy’s and Shorty’s.
The tour is two days this weekend – Saturday, December 11, 2010 from 10:00 AM until 5:00 PM, and Sunday, December 12, 2010 from 12:00 PM until 5:00 PM. The food tastings are from 12:00 PM until 4:00 PM, both days. Tickets are just $30.00 each and are available for purchase online or at a number of local VA-Hi businesses. All proceeds from the home tour stay in the neighborhood to benefit Highland Park, the new neighborhood greenspace at the corner of North Highland and St. Charles Avenues.
