#324 – SHOP LOCAL! Peas for Prosperity Makes Great Gifts and Helps Those in Need, “One Pea at a Time”
Looking for a unique, thoughtful gift makes you feel as good to give as to receive? Searching for a gift to give that also gives back? Look no further than Peas for Prosperity!
Founded by Christy Annis after she lost her job (as she candidly writes on her website, not because she was downsized or laid off, “because I was fired”), Peas for Prosperity was started specifically with the purpose of giving back, of helping people who need it, one pea at a time. Christy told me her business began, as her Mom says, “on a wing and a prayer. It all started by accident! I had a crazy idea to sell Peas as a way to find a new job. Instead of finding a new job, I found a new life!”
By purchasing, quite simply, bags of peas, you are helping Peas for Prosperity give back to the Atlanta community. “We donate a portion of the proceeds from all sales to charities that help people in need of a Second Chance,” Christy told me. ” For our holiday sales, we are donating a portion of the proceeds to the Atlanta Community Food Bank. Through our Peas to Paychecks Program we partner with local non-profits to hire program participants to assist with the processing and production of our products. Currently, we are working with the youth at Covenant House to assist with our Holiday products.”
It’s an inspiring story and Christy’s peas make amazingly thoughtful gifts. When you give these peas, you are giving someone a second chance- imagine giving this gift and telling the recipient the story of these peas!
