The 3rd Annual Spontaneous Combustion Atlanta comedy festival lights up Buckhead March 2-6, 2011 at the Basement Theatre and the laughter is sure to be heard throughout the city!

Billed as “some of the funniest people you’ve never heard of,” the festival features emerging comedic talent from Minneapolis, Chicago and Raleigh-Durham, as well as some favorites back for their third year in a row, Ph Productions from Chicago and Improv Boston, who will entertain and delight with improvised musicals and long-form shows. Even more exciting, this year’s festival goes international with Canadian groups Nakatomi Protocol and We’re From Here, as well as local favorites are included with Atlanta’s own: Revis and Zeiss, The Arm and Village Theatre.

Interested in learning more about improv? Spontaneous Combustion brings some of the top improv teachers in the country for workshops that are open to the public. Join instructors Bill Arnett (iO Chicago) and Joe Bill (Second City & io Chicago) and Kayce Alltop (Ph Productions) and Will Luera (Improv Boston) for workshops for only $25 each.

A complete list of show times, workshops and info on each performing group can be found online or by calling the Basement Theatre at (404) 277-3071. Tickets are $15 ($10 for students) and may be purchased online in advance or at the door. The HOT TICKET, an all-show pass, is also available for $100 – it gets you into every show and is the absolute best value!

Need more reason to go hang out at The Basement Theatre this week? How’s this? The Good Food Truck will be hanging out there, too, on Saturday, from 2:00 PM until after midnight. A sponsor of Spontaneous Combustion providing food for performers and volunteers, they’ll also have food for purchase for your improv-goers, like their famous Poodles, a French Toast hot dog bun, beef dog, topped with apple-maple slaw and other delicious treats, like their International Rice Crispy Treats. Delish!
