One of my favorite things about spring in Atlanta is the plethora of festivals – there’s something for everyone, in almost every neighborhood and metro Atlanta city. You can stay close to home, you can venture out and explore – whatever you choose, there’s something nearly every weekend!
Billing itself as the “hippest intown spring festival this side of the downtown connector,” the Atlanta West Fest is on and in full swing this weekend! Taking place May 6 to 8, 2011, this neighborhood celebration is the place to be this weekend…or at least one of the places you should definitely check out.
Hosted by one of the oldest suburbs in Atlanta, the Atlanta West Fest is more than just the run-of-the-mill spring festival. Consisting of a self-guided Historic Walking Tour of Homes on Saturday, May 7 from 12:00 PM until 5:00 PM and Sunday, May 8 from 1:00 PM until 5:00 PM and outlines some of the most gorgeous real estate on the westside – Craftsman-style and Victorian homes, nestled on tree-lined streets in a gorgeous, walkable neighborhood. For just $5.00, There’s also a full day of Festival fun at Gordon-White Park on Saturday, May 7, 2011 from 12:00 PM until 6:00 PM, which includes a pet parade at 11:00 AM, an artists’ market, local food vendors, and much more!
Saturday’s Festival is is FREE! Tickets for the home tour are just $5.00 but are no longer available online – inquire at the festival for more information!
