Satisfy Your Sweet Tooth 2nd Annual Great American Bake Sale – in Atlanta Saturday, May 14, 2011 at Phipps Plaza
Last year, I saw some foodie friends of mine posting on Twitter about the inaugural Atlanta Food Blogger Bake Sale, which was taking place as part of a local effort in support of the Great American Bake Sale. Since I have a sweet tooth and baked goods are a particular weakness of mine, I decided to check it out. I ended up scoring way too much delicious food (and even some treats for my dog!) and got to meet some friends whom I had only previously known online and whose blogs have now become some of my favorite local Atlanta food blogs!
This year promises to be even bigger and better, as the Second Annual Atlanta Food Blogger Bake Sale hits Phipps Plaza tomorrow, in conjunction with the Atlanta Luxury Living Show. On Saturday, May 14, beginning at 10:00 AM, you can browse the tables of some of Atlanta’s best bakers and food bloggers and bring home some truly decadent creations. The event will last until 2:00 PM…or until all of the treats are gone, so be sure to get there early to be sure you can get a great selection.
To stir up our appetites, the organizers have been posting tantalizing tidbits on their Facebook page for the past couple of weeks. Some of the sweet selections that will be available tomorrow include chocolate chip cream cheese pound cake slices, Kahlua dark chocolate cakewiches, Red Queen Tarts, and many many more! And of course, those Fido-favorites, Big Daddy Biscuits will be there, perfect for your own pooch or for a furry friend!
Proceeds from the Atlanta Food Blogger Bake Sale benefit Share Our Strength, a national nonprofit that leads the fight against childhood hunger in America. Last year’s Bake Sale in Atlanta raised $1600 – I’m sure that this year will be an even greater success…especially if you get out there and buy!
If you can’t make it on Saturday, May 14, you can still help by donating on the Atlanta Team’s fundraising website, which you can find by clicking here. Every dollar counts – in fact, $1 can help provide a hungry child with 10 healthy meals. It’s amazing what such a small amount can do, and it’s even more amazing what we can all do together!
