This Weekend, Enjoy Music Among the Spirits at “Tunes from the Tombs” at Oakland Cemetery – May 21 & 22, 2011
Oakland Cemetery is quite possibly one of the coolest places in Atlanta. The sheer volumes of not-quite-living history alone make it a bounty of information for history buffs. Their guided tours are perfect for the whole family, strolling the grounds and learning a little something while you’re at it. It’s a peaceful and beautiful place for a weekend picnic. Oh, and they have really great events…like the one this weekend.
Tunes From The Tombs: A Weekend of Music and Spirits Benefiting Historic Oakland Cemetery is this weekend, Saturday and Sunday, May 21 & 22, 2011. With amplified music on a collection of main stages around the cemetery to various other musicians in and among the monuments and gardens of the cemetery, it’s a tuneful day at Oakland! A wide variety of genres will be represented, from rock, folk, Americana, jazz, classical, and beyond. Tunes From The Tombs will feature bands and musicians from Atlanta, Georgia and as far as California, Colorado, and Pennsylvania. Gates are open from 11:00 AM until dusk.
Tickets are just $10.00 for one day or $15.00 for both days. Children’s pricing is: 12 and under will be admitted for $5 or $10 for a two day pass; children under 3 are free. Tickets can be purchased at the gates, so just head on over! All proceeds benefit the Historic Oakland Foundation.
