It’s a Grand Night for a Show – “A Grand Night for Singing” at Stage Door Players Through June 5, 2011
What do you get when you mix up the best song of the legendary duo of Rodgers and Hammerstein with some of the best singers in Atlanta theatre? You get more than just a fun night…you get A Grand Night for Singing!
A musical revue that showcases favorites from huge hits like The King and I, Cinderella, The Sound of Music, Carousel, Oklahoma!, and South Pacific, along with some lesser knowns such as Me and Juliet, Flower Drum Song, and Allegro, the show is held together by a loose script but the music is the true focus. The songs are proven classics – family-friendly and timeless, all combined into one memorable evening.
With the usual magic that Stage Door Players delivers, A Grand Night for Singing has all the right touches: breathtaking costumes, a playfully fun set, and a fabulous cast featuring Bernard Jones, Erin Lorette, Nicholas Morrett, Kelly Chapin Schmidt, and Caitlin Smith. The show’s production team is a familiar one: direction by Artistic Director Robert Egizio, with musical direction by Linda Uzelac and choreography by Jen MacQueen. The cozy space of the Stage Door Players theatre is the perfect venue for this intimate show.
A Grand Night for Singing runs through June 5, 2011, with performances Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings at 8:00 PM, and Sunday afternoons at 2:30 PM (please note: there’s no performance on Sunday, May 29).
