Curtain Up! Light the Lights! It’s the 2nd Annual TONY Awards Viewing Party at The Fox Theatre – Sunday, June 12, 2011
Okay, I admit it: I’m a theatre-geek. My love affair with Broadway musicals started when I was six and saw Annie…on Broadway. And has continued ever since – through high school musicals, community theatre productions, a college degree, and on and on. Some people have Super Bowl parties, some people have Oscar parties…I prefer the TONYs.
So you know where I’ll be on Sunday, June 12 – I’ll be at the 2nd Annual TONY Awards Viewing Party at The Fox Theatre!
The Fox Theatre’s famous Egyptian Ballroom plays host to the most exciting night in theatre, as Mara Davis and Bill Tush host a grand night of glitz and glamour for the 65th Annual American Theatre Wing’s TONY Awards. The VIP event begins with complimentary cocktails from Gorgon Biersch and Grey Goose from 6:00 PM until 7:30 PM, followed by the exciting broadcast, which will feature Neil Patrick Harris (be still my thespian-loving heart!) as host! The doors open to the general public at 7:30 PM.
Tickets for the VIP event are $50.00 and include the VIP cocktail hour, as well as the broadcast, plus a special gift bag valued at more than $100, some of which will include random prizes such as a Flip camera, $200 Delta voucher, theatre tickets and restaurant gift cards. Tickets to the VIP event can be purchased online. There will also be a silent auction. Proceeds from the VIP event benefit the Fox Theatre’s educational programs and for UNICEF’s Believe in Zero campaign.
Want to brush up on the nominees and watch clips from the nominated shows before the big night? Check out the official TONY Awards website for everything you could possibly want to know about the 65th Annual TONY Awards. If you’re not a theatre regular, you may be surprised to see a lot of familiar Hollywood names on the list: Edie Falco, Vanessa Redgrave, Billy Crudup, Al Pacino. If you’ve never watched the TONY Awards before, you’re in for a treat with live performances by nominated shows – think GLEE on steroids – and lots of fun surprises.
The general admission part of the evening – beginning at 7:30 PM and for the broadcast only, is FREE! Tickets for the general admission, broadcast-only part of the evening will be available on a first-come, first-served basis at The Fox Theatre Box Office, beginning on Friday, June 10, 2011.
Give my regards to Broadway (if you’re lucky enough to be attending the TONYs in person)…at least I know I’ll have a great seat at The Fox Theatre!
