Screen on the Green at Piedmont Park is Back! Check Out This Fun Line-Up of Movies for Summer 2011 – Thursday Nights in June

Last week, Atlanta got the exciting news that summertime favorite, Screen on the Green in Piedmont Park, had been saved from impending doom…a.k.a., sponsors backing out and leaving the free summer film fest without the funds to continue. But local businesses stepped up and saved the day and Screen on the Green is back for 2011!

The fun line-up of films for 2011 even includes an audience choice option, but details for voting have not yet been released. Stay tuned – we’ll let you know as soon as we hear! In the meantime, here’s the schedule:

June 2 – Back to the Future, 1985
June 9 – Imitation of Life, 1959
June 16 – Sixteen Candles, 1984
June 23 – Viewers Choice – The Birds, 1963 vs. Frankenstein, 1931
June 30 – Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory, 1971

Personally, I’m looking forward to a girls’ night on June 16 for Sixteen Candles and absolutely cannot wait for June 30 for Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory (the original, y’all, not that creepy Tim Burton/Johnny Depp number).

Pack your picnic basket and blanket, head to The Meadow at Piedmont Park, and prepare to spend your summer Thursdays in June at Piedmont Park. Remember, no pets, glass containers, grills, umbrellas or high-backed chairs.

Movies start between 8:40 PM and 8:55 PM, but get there early to snag a sweet spot! Oh, and as always, Screen on the Green is FREE! See you there!
