No doubt by now you’ve heard the buzz about Street Food Thursdays in Midtown Atlanta. Atlanta’s rapidly growing cadre of food trucks and food carts descend on The Woodruff Art Center to provide lunch for hundreds of hungry, eager fans.
One of the many initiatives of the Atlanta Street Food Coalition, working to legalize street food in Atlanta, Street Food Thursdays were an instant hit when they began a couple of months ago, and have continued to pack ’em in for lunch.
With local food truck favorites like Yumbii, The Pickle, Tex’s Tacos, the Good Food Truck, the Pup Truck, Tamale Queen, the Pickle, and of course Souper Jenny’s Incredible Flying Soup Mobile, and sweet treats like Westside Creamery, Yum Yum Cupcake, the King of Pops, and Rattletrap, Street Food Thursdays are a smorgasbord of tasty lunchtime treats.
Street Food Thursdays take place every Thursday from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM (or until the food runs out!) at The Woodruff at the corner of Peachtree and 15th Streets, and also at the corners of Peachtree and 10th and Peachtree and 7th. While The Woodruff undoubtedly has the largest selection of trucks, they rotate weekly – be sure to check the Atlanta Street Food Coalition’s Facebook page for updates every week, so you can be sure not to miss your favorite trucks! A few tips: get there early, as the lines get longer as the lunch hour rolls on, and bring cash – most of the food trucks don’t take plastic!
