The South Rises Again as the Atlanta Braves Celebrate Gone with the Wind Night – Saturday, July 2, 2011

Calling all Southern Belles and Beaus! Tonight – Saturday, July 2, 2011 at the 7:00 PM game – the Atlanta Braves will celebrate the 75th Anniversary of Gone With the Wind at Turner Field, as they take on Baltimore Orioles.

In partnership with the Atlanta History Center and the Margaret Mitchell House, the Atlanta Braves will salute Scarlett, Rhett and the incredible history of the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel with a wholly GWTW-themed evening. Throughout the afternoon and evening, activities center around the novel and movie for fans of all ages. The South will truly rise again, as the the Braves pull out all the stops on this incredible night.

Come dressed as your favorite character from Gone With the Wind will receive $10 off Upper Box (regularly $18) or Outfield Pavilion (regularly $28) tickets. The savings continue after the game, too, as fans who show their July 2, 2011 Braves ticket stub at the Atlanta History Center or Margaret Mitchell House will receive $5 off admission to either venue (offer good for one adult, per ticket).

Take it one step further and bring out your inner Scarlett or Rhett – come in costume and plan to participate in the Scarlett and Rhett look-alike contest to win the ultimate Gone With the Wind prize package: 4 tickets to the Atlanta History Center, 4 tickets to the Margaret Mitchell House, 4 tickets to Scarlett on the Square, 4 tickets to the Southern Belles and Whistles Tour, a copy of Gone With the Wind, and a variety of Gone with the Wind memorabilia from the Atlanta History Center gift shop

The gates will open at 4:30 PM and the fun begins in Fan Plaza with a host of GWTW activities, including a Scarlett O’Hara impersonator will greeting fans and hosting Gone With the Wind trivia; dance instructors teaching the Virginia Reel, a dance made famous worldwide by Scarlett and Rhett; Civil War re-enactors posing for photos and interacting with fans; a Scarlett O’Hara and Rhett Butler look-alike contest to win great Braves and Gone With the Wind prizes; and a Scarlett and Rhett photo stand where you can pose for photos for FREE!

Then, throughout the game, the celebration continues with Gone With the Wind historical notes and trivia during “Did You Know” segments between innings; Gone With the Wind famous quotes from the novel throughout the game; fans dressed as their favorite Gone With the Wind characters spotlighted on BravesVision; and the big finale to the Scarlett O’Hara and Rhett Butler look-alike contest.

It’s truly going to be a night to remember – it’s just too bad we’re not playing the Yankees!
