Thursday, August 4, 2011, is the First International IPA Day – and Atlanta’s Sweetwater Brewing Company wants you to celebrate with them from 5:30 to 7:30 PM! For those of you (like me) not well versed in beer-speak India Pale Ales (IPAs) are “known for their distinct flavor and aroma from the “dry hopping” process, and their high ABVs (alcohol by volume)” – Sweetwater’s tasting room will be invaded by ten distinct and diverse IPAs, including some made especially for this occasion. If you’re a fan of Sweetwater, a fan of IPAs, or just looking for a unique mid-week happy hour experience, this is for you!

IPAs on tap will include:

  • SweetWater IPA
  • Big Medlin Double IPA
  • Border Hopper – Fresh Hopped IPA
  • Wet Dream – Fresh Hopped IPA
  • Browneyed Buckeye – Brown Double IPA (Dank Tank series)
  • Jack Daniels Barrel Aged SweetWater IPA
  • Woodford Reserve Barrel Aged SweetWater IPA
  • Jim Beam Barrel Aged SweetWater IPA
  • IPA Cask dry hopped with Calypso
  • IPA Cask dry hopped with Centennial and Black Pepper
Admission is just $8.00 and includes a complimentary pint glass (and a free koozie if you show your Foursquare check-in). And for those of you glued to your smartphones, show a staff member that you checked-in on Foursquare, Facebook or simply sent a Tweet mentioning #IPADay will also be entered to win a SweetWater IPA wooden sign.
