Dine Out for Atlanta Community Food Bank Tonight at The Optimist – Tuesday, June 19, 2012

If you’ve been hearing the buzz about Chef Ford Fry’s new restaurant The Optimist lately, tonight is your chance to check it out – and for a great cause!

It’s time for the monthly Atlanta’s Table Supper Club, benefitting Atlanta Community Food Bank. It’s simple: dine out tonight at The Optimist and 20% of your bill is donated to Atlanta’s Table Supper Club, which collects prepared perishable food from the local Atlanta hospitality industry and delivering that food to more than 40 Metro Atlanta nonprofit partner agencies daily. It’s an amazing initiative that collects and distributes on average 30,000 pounds of food every month!

What a great way to try out this new restaurant, make it one of your favorites, and help support ACFB! Just plan to dine at the Optimist tonight – make it an impromptu date night or a fun girls’ night – and be sure to mention that you’re there to support the Atlanta Community Food Bank. A few suggestions from the menu: I suggest starting with the Garlicky Tiny Clams with Pork Belly and Hand-Town Croutons as your starter, the Maine Sea Scallops with Oxtail Marmalade and Brown Butter-Chicken Jus for your entrée, and leaving room for the Grapefruit Tart with Mimosa Reduction and Venezuelan White Chocolate for dessert. Perhaps you’ll also want to share some oysters from the raw bar and wash it all down with The Truth As We Know It (A martini of Bitter Truth Pink Gin, Dolin Blanc and Angostura’s Bitters) or a Mother of Pearl (Death’s Door Gin, Fever Tree Tonic Water, Fee Brothers Celery Bitters, celery salt/black pepper, fennel frond and celery leaf). But that’s just my suggestion!

Reservations are recommended to ensure that you get a table for this popular event! Want to know more about The Optimist? Read our post from our visit there last week!
